2008-09 NaismithLives.com All-American Team
The 2008-09 college basketball season was dominated by Blake Griffin, Stephen Curry, and the entire Big East conference. The second annual NaismithLives.com All-American Team reflects all of this, as Griffin and Curry headline the First Team and four members of the Big East can be found on the first two teams.
FIRST TEAM
Stephen Curry (Davidson)
28.6 ppg, 5.6 apg, 4.4 rpg
Stephen Curry was not only the best scorer in college basketball this season, but he was also arguably the best playmaker.
James Harden (Arizona State)
20.1 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 4.2 apg
James Harden singlehandedly carried the Sun Devils for stretches and his team-first attitude is the main reason Arizona State was a Top 25 team throughout the season.
Blake Griffin (Oklahoma)
22.7 ppg, 14.4 rpg, 65.4% FG
The numbers speak for themselves, but it was Griffin’s utter dominance that established him as the best player in the nation from start to finish.
DeJuan Blair (Pittsburgh)
Aside from Blake Griffin, DeJuan Blair was the most the most dominant low post force in college basketball and his desire on the glass was unlike anything the Big East had seen in quite some time.
Hasheem Thabeet (Connecticut)
There isn’t a better defensive player in the country than Hasheem Thabeet, but the strides he made offensively should not be overlooked.
