Nick Steger
The writer of Nick’s Nasty 5 for NaismithLives.com, Nick has always had a unique way of expressing his passion for sports.
After growing up in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Nick attended Arizona State where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Journalism/Mass Communications. Following graduation, he was a freelancer for CBS Sports, Fox Sports, and ABC Sports. During his time with the networks, Nick worked major events, such as the World Series, Monday Night Football, NBA, NASCAR, U.S. Open Tennis, and the NCAA Tournament.
Nick moved from freelancer to full-timer when he took a position with ESPN in September of 2005 and has quickly advanced within the company.
Nick has been a key member of one of ESPN’s most-watched shows, College GameDay (football), and two of the network’s premiere college basketball shows, College Gamenight and College GameDay. During his time with those programs, he has covered the Final Four, the Rose Bowl, and this year's BCS National Championship.
From a basketball standpoint, he works closely with the on-air staff (Doug Gottlieb, Stephen Bardo, Steve Lavin, Tom Brennan, etc.) in crafting analytical tapes and spotlighting specific offenses and defenses.
He has also cut highlights for countless big games for SportsCenter, ESPNEWS, Baseball Tonight, and ESPN’s NBA and NFL specialty shows.
The youngest of five children, Nick is the proud uncle of two nephews, Calvin and Noah, and one niece, his goddaughter, Sylvia.
